Who is responsible in a rented property
A landlord in Texas has a duty to repair conditions that materially affect a tenant's health or safety — with an exception that catches most of these cases. Chapter 92 does not mention remediation after a death anywhere, so anyone who tells you the law settles your situation is going beyond what it says. The lease, the security deposit and both insurers usually decide it.
